My best 5 ways to be focused and more productive as Digital Marketer
As a digital marketing specialist, I’m working on a lot of different tasks that required a highly focused mind. But how to stay focused almost every day — even when we are tired and have a bad mood? How to stay productive and focused?
Today I will share with you my five best practices that help me fulfill everyday duties.
1. Keep your mind fresh thanks to meditation/mindfulness
As an agnostic, I’m skeptical about any religious practices, but for a long time, I was interested in meditation. Last year I started reading about it, and I found mindfulness.
“Mindfulness is the psychological process of bringing one’s attention to experiences occurring in the present moment, which one can develop through the practice of meditation and through other training.”
Mindfulness helps me to free the mind from a race of thoughts that are present with me because of a large number of projects and tasks that I run for my clients.
After mindfulness session, I have fresh ideas, and it’s easier for me to sort my thoughts and qualitatively analyze data. Finally, that helps me to make better decisions.
2. Prepare favorite concentration music
To be more specified, I mean sounds, not always music. I have a list of my favorite sound on Spotify and YouTube that I’m using to enter the deep focus phase. I’m writing this post while I’m listening to one of those.
I recommend two YouTube channels with my favorite music to work below:
✔️ Guild of Ambience [ambient, background music and noise, nature sound]⤵️
✔️ Chilled Cow [LoFi Hip-Hop]⤵️
3. Drink water regularly
Your brain needs fresh water to work well. Why?
Almost 80 percent of the brain is water. Regular drinking water is the basis for the proper functioning of the brain. Water improves communication between brain cells that results in better well-being and more efficient thinking. What is more, water regulates body temperature, transports nutrients, dissolves compounds formed in metabolic reactions and provides minerals and oxygen to every cell of the body.
How to properly hydrate your body and brain?
An adult male should consume about 3500 ml of water daily, and women should drink about 3000 ml of water daily.
Remember those numbers!
4. Try yerba mate instead of coffee
I know that water is sometimes not enough. I guess that your favorite energy booster is coffee. It’s one of the most popular stimulants.
https://www.worldatlas.com/articles/top-10-coffee-consuming-nations.html
In the USA, average coffee consumption in 2018 was 4.2 Kg per person. In Finland, where coffee consumption was the highest, an average person consumes 12 kg of black beans!
But there is one problem with coffee.
Coffee stimulates quickly, but it lasts for a short time. When caffeine stops working, you feel a sudden drop in energy, and you need more coffee.
Yerba Mate might be a better alternative. Thanks to yerba mate you will feel a bit less stimulation than coffee, but it will be more stable and durable.
A taste of yerba mate is specific and a bit dusty. Be ready for it during the first sip.
5. Turn notification off on your smartphone and turn on plane mode during the most demanding tasks
I know it sounds obvious, but it is the easiest way to lower the level of distraction in your workplace — wherever it is.
Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, Messenger, Tik Tok, E-mails — how many notifications do you receive each day? Deep and highly productive work is not possible with such amount of distractors!
